i heart. . .letterpress

With it being the month of February I am going to share things that I love! First being letterpress!!! After I finished the design process of my logo (which is a whole other blog post which I hope to share in the near future) I knew that I wanted letterpress business cards! I love the look of letterpress. I love the touch of the letters imprinted on the paper. I love the feel of the weight used for the paper. I love it all! I started my search for letterpress companies. I desired to work with a local company if possible. After several phone calls to other printers I discovered they did not offer letterpress printing or did not know any companies who offered letterpress. I did not believe them and kept searching. I then found Paisley Dog Press! A local company who loves letterpress! I made an appointment and met with Janelle. She was awesome! She is detailed orientated which is a must and she was helpful in choosing the final colors for my business cards! Once my business cards were printed, I wanted more letterpress. Janelle then designed and created my note cards to match my business cards! I love them both!! Letterpress is such an art and I am so thankful the husband and wife team Shane and Janelle Paisley of Paisley Dog Press followed their hearts by keeping letterpress alive. You must check out their store here where they sell letterpress cards and other items! I ordered these cards for Valentine’s Day! Thank you Shane and Janelle for all your help in printing my business cards and note cards! I love using them!

. . .. . .. . .. . .

nice! I have some letterpress business cards myself and love them… they make such a great impression

Lovely! Actually, I was going to apply for a job at a letterpress place in Hampden as a designer (I was working at the Walters Art Museum at the time) but found I was pregnant with twins so I didn’t. :) I’m definitely thinking of going letterpress for my next business cards, once my current ones run out I have a new logo that would be perfect for letterpress.

DIY: Valentine’s Ideas

Today is already February first!! There is one thing about this month is that I spell it wrong every time!! Thank goodness for spell check. When I see a creative idea or have a creative thought, I have to wait for the creative energy to start working. Once I am in a project creating, I love it. There is something about creating that I love and in the end energizes me. I am going to share some DIY projects that I have tackled and wanted to share before Valentine’s Day arrives! If you have any DIY Valentine’s ideas please post them in the comments! I would love some new ones!

First one is paper garland hearts! My garlands are going up today and stay up all month long!

I got the idea from Dottie Angel’s blog. Click here for directions.I found a book on our book shelf that look ready to be donated to a good cause!I have my grandmother’s sewing machine and set it to the basic straight stitch and used pink thread!

We made these chocolate cookies and added ice cream in between. . .click here for the recipe.

I made several of these heart barrettes last year. I love how simple and sweet they looked in Myla’s hair.

However, she does not like anything in her hair. And it is not a battle I am willing to fight.

This DIY idea is from Twig and Thistle. You can purchase the bags here.

You can download a printable for the bag here or the new printable for the bag this year here.

And I hope to fill the bags with maple sugar pecans from this recipe. (note it is maple sugar not syrup in the recipe-I made that mistake!)

A simple DIY project is cut out hearts and write what you love about your husband, wife, child, or roommates.

Or cut words from a magazine. This reminds me when I used to cut words and then mod podge them to frames years ago!

You can post the hearts anywhere! Last year it was out door so it was the first thing Lyndon saw when he came home.

Another time, I hung hearts on string from the kitchen ceiling.

Not really a DIY idea, but on Valentine’s day we will be drinking out of pink straws from the Sugar Diva. Pink is Myla’s favorite color!

The heart barrett you gave Halle last year. . . I put in Acacia’s hair today! 😉

oh man those ice cream sandwich cookies look amazing!!

Love your ideas here. I may try the cookie recipe w/ the kids and I’m working on this for LA: http://thestewartestate.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-i-love-you-because-board_30.html

Great ideas! You’re making me wish I had a sewing machine! We love Valentine’s Day. We usually make heart-shaped sugar cookies and cards. I think we’ll start next week on our projects!

Shannon

I love my paper heart garland so much. :)

Girl this was JUST the thing I needed to start on my Wednesday morning! I absolutely love this post. Matt and I’ve never really decorated for any holiday, but I think that’s going to change this year. Thanks!

Baby Liam: newborn

Meet Liam Michael Neumann. I know you met him here, however we had his offical newborn shoot on Sunday. Liam was three days old and there were already hundreds of pictures taken before this shoot.  I loved shooting in Michael and Mary’s home. It was perfectly natural to shoot there and so relaxing for everyone. Michael and Mary are truly naturals at being Liam’s daddy and mommy. I love capturing the newness of them interacting with their son. You can just stare at your new baby for hours. . . taking it all in! Thinking about how life is going to change, wondering what he will be like, what color will his eyes be, and not remembering what life was without him. I am honored to capture these first days for them and for Liam. Days quickly turn into weeks, months, and then years. It truly goes by so fast. He is such a cute baby and I could not put my camera down! Liam was amazing and slept through the whole shoot (just what I asked him to do)! And it was sweet that this shoot fell on Liam’s due date. I love you three and so excited for you to enter this stage of life. Welcome Liam!!

He wanted to stretch out!!

Love seeing his reflection on the floor!something so sweet about a sleeping baby. . .A big yawn and stretch for mommy and then back to sleep!

Love the baby swirl. . .Mary, I am so proud of you!!! Liam is one lucky little man!!Above is a new all time favorite for sure!!!!On daddy’s lap. . .such little hands. . .These three are some of my favorite. . .too hard to pick!!

This is like a dream…. This is my beautiful family and I get all the pleasure of watching Michael and Mary parent so tenderly and so confidently… watching Liam be welcomed by the whole family – Laura arrives from Denver, Pa from NJ…all gathered to celebrate Liam’s arrival together. Watching through the camera lens, Jamie records these memories with such skill and beauty. God is so loving and kind!

Nissley Vineyard: Anna and Morgan

Anna was finishing up her undergraduate at Seton Hill University. Morgan was starting his MBA at Seton Hill University. Anna worked in the Admission office. Morgan began working as a Graduate Assistant in the Admission office. This was the beginning of their paths crossings. Part of their job in the Admission office was to give tours of the campus, and there was a guided tour set up for training new admission workers. Anna and Morgan both happened to showed up. Morgan admits without hesitation that Anna stood out to him and that he immediately noticed her in the crowd.  Anna was unaware of Morgan as she was dating someone else at the time.

Morgan and Anna continued to work in the Admission office. Morgan took all his questions to Anna for answers and, well, lets be honest, to get her attention too! At this point in the story Anna claims that she was clueless that Morgan was interested in her. Clueless, although she retells the story with a sly smile on her face. They both remember working one event together for the admission office. This time Morgan was running the event and knew the ropes. Before the event, this time Anna had a question for Morgan.  Anna asked, “Do I look OK in this?” She wanted to make sure her outfit was appropriate for the event and wanted Morgan’s approval, all the while claiming she was clueless of his interest. It was not long after this event that they stayed up talking through the night on several occasions. Anna was now fully aware of Morgan’s interest in her.  Anna’s eyes were now on Morgan.

This fall over Anna’s birthday weekend Morgan proposed to Anna on the beach. On one knee. After watching the two of them interact all afternoon together this didn’t surprise me at all. Morgan is a gentleman. His eyes were on Anna the entire time, looking after her first and staying by her side to make sure she did not slip in the snow! Anna was all smiles during their engagement shoot. Happiness filled her smile as she is by Morgan’s side walking through life together. Anna and Morgan, thank you so much for traveling all the way from Pittsburgh for your engagement shoot in the snow at Nissley Vineyard!!! I loved my time with you two and thank you for braving the cold and snow!! Enjoy!!!

Nissley’s vineyard was open on last Sunday even with the snow!!

So with these as the first few frames, I knew it was going to be an amazing shoot with Anna and Morgan!

Love it!!

I love the old buildings on Nissley’s property and loved the snow too!

Above is a favorite for sure!!

I love these three shots. . .I love the way Anna and Morgan laugh together!!

Anna you are beautiful!

Love the snowy blurry background shooting at 1.2 gives.

In the summer time the lawn is filled with people who gather for the summer concerts!

On Sunday we had the grounds to ourselves to wander around. . .this might be my favorite spot of the day!

Seriously Anna!

The one above and below are another two of favorites!! I loved how Morgan looked at Anna with his eyes!

Love Anna’s pop of red in the snow!! Red was a perfect choice of color!!

I loved the contrast of Anna’s brown eyes with Morgan’s blue eyes!!We finally made it up into the vineyard for some more pictures!!

Morgan you choose an amazing ring for an amazing girl!!!

Anna confessed that she does not buy shirts with long sleeves!! She was so tough to take off her coat! It was freezing out!

Love the quietness of this picture. . .

If you look close enough I stomped their initials in the snow. . . A + M!!

Thank you Anna and Morgan for being out in the snow for the whole time for your engagement shoot!!

. . .. . .. . .. . .

[…] print as I usually do not remember what I have shot on it! This roll took me back to January with Anna and Morgan’s engagement with the only weekend of real snow! I scanned them in myself so the grain and noise in the pictures […]

Beautiful!!! (from Sara) It looks like soo much fun!!

Happy Birthday Liam Michael Neumann!!

The group texting began around 7:30 pm last night. I was in the middle of the long drawn out process of putting Myla to bed. This process seemed to take extra long as I was wanting details about the increasing contractions and the possible arrival of their baby boy. Finally, with Myla in bed an hour later, we decided that he would arrive sometime soon and definitely by the weekend! I packed up my camera gear and headed to bed. I did not sleep to much as I was thinking about Michael and Mary, their little son entering their lives at the perfect time, the exhausting process labor is, and remember the joy at the end. The joy of holding your baby who God created and has perfectly placed into your family. The pain is truly forgotten and you remember that the pain was worth it.

I arrived at 1:52am about an hour after Liam was born. I could not believe how quickly he arrived! I was honored to snap a few pictures of him within the first hour of life. I am so excited for Liam to become a part of Michael and Mary’s family. I love you three!! Here are a few from today! And trust me you will be seeing more of him on this blog!!
